SBA E-Board Elections

Elections for the Student Bar Association Executive Board will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The SBA Elections Commission will conduct the elections in the Commons Area.

The SBA Constitution provides the following guidelines for the selection of the Executive Board:

“There shall be an election held in February of each year to elect the following positions: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Parliamentarian, Communications Officer, Social Chair, the Student Organizations Liaison, and the Student Senator. Each member of SBA, including current third year students and LL.M. students, shall be eligible to vote in these officer elections. Officer elections shall require a majority vote of those members who vote in such an election.”

The Constitution further states:

“Each Executive Board Officer and each member of the Board of Governors must be taking classes at the College of Law during both semesters of the academic year following the spring elections, or in another UF College if enrolled in an approved joint degree program, be in good standing (minimum cumulative 2.0 grade point average), and be free from conduct and academic probation. All students for any office shall be either first or second year students enrolled at UF Law.”

All students who intend to run for election must submit a signed Intent to Run form (available at UFLAWSBA.COM) to the Elections Commission between January 29-February 2, 2018 at 5pm. The form must be submitted electronically to uflawsba@gmail.com.

After eligibility is confirmed, following the registration period, all candidates will receive an email confirming their candidacy. There will be a campaigning period from Tuesday, February 6, 2018-Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the close of ballots. All campaign material must be removed following the election. Please abide by the following rules in campaigns.

No candidate shall give, offer, or promise to any student or student organization any benefit in order to influence the votes of that student or members of that organization.

No candidate or representative shall misrepresent any material fact in campaign material or in campaigning in any form.

No campaigning of any sort (including the placement of materials) is
permitted in classrooms or in the Legal Information Center.

No campaign materials may be placed on vehicles.

No campaigning is permitted within 50 feet of the Ballot Box on election day.

Students must present a valid Gator 1 Identification Card to receive a ballot and vote in the election.
